I was travelling with family member and booked a room each rather than share a twin room. I requested 1 large bed for each of us . On arrival the hotel service was slow, impersonal and they did not want to provide us with this request. They wanted to offload their single/twin rooms and were not concerned that we were paying double or that a double room had been reserved. The rooms are dated and need some renovations. They also charge too much for internet access which is often provided free of charge at many hotels. The location is good with access to Chinatown and transport. Stay there for the location but not for any smiles or great service. Close

My husband and I stayed at the Furama for 4 nights and loved it. Having arrived from London after a long flight we were given a free upgrade when our double room was not ready on time - something that the reception staff were so apologetic for, even though we only had to wait a couple of hours and didn't really mind. All the staff were very polite but also friendly, particularly the doormen who were only too happy to run out into the road to stop a taxi for you! Our room was very modern and absolutely spotless - we were a bit concerned by the glass walled bathroom but were relieved when we found it could be sectioned off with a curtain! The only fault I could find was perhaps a lack of storage space for clothes etc. but as we were only there for 4 nights we didn't mind living out of our suitcases and there was adequare room for clothing that needed to be hung up (plus an iron and ironing board if needed). The hotel was ideally located on the edge of China Town which was so busy and vibrant - quite a contrast to the modern side of Singapore. However, we were only a 10 minute walk away from Clarke Quay. The Furama was almost opposide a metro station and also on the City Sightseeing Tour bus route so getting around was no problem at all. We ate out most nights in China Town as it was a lot cheaper than the restaurants in Clarke Quay and the bars had Tiger Beer on special offer in most places. We would definately stay there again. We stayed four nights at the Furama City Centre in Singapore from 29th July, 2010. We are frequent visitors to Singapore and try different hotels each visit. This is one of the better hotels on a value for money basis. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room was not huge but very adequate with a king bed and the bathroom was clean. From the large bedroom window we had a lovely view of the Singapore Flyer (circular wheel) and partial river glimpses. The hotel’s location is very good for walking around Chinatown, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. The Chinatown MRT station is close by. The hotel is located on the Purple line MRT which is the line that many of the attractions are on, so less changing of MRT trains in required, although changing is not difficult the Singapore underground rail system is easy to navigate. The buffet breakfast which we had included in our package was disappointing as the selection was limited and except for the omelets which were delicious other choices were not very fresh and appetizing. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Close

The designer who sold the Furama City Centre on the "new concept" rooms should be (fill in the blank). 1) If you like privacy when using the toilet, forget it. The entire toilet, bathtub and shower is behind clear glass. Yes, there is a partial shade, which really doesn't leave much to the imagination!. If you are travelling on your honeymoon, you may not need any privacy, but if you are travelling with family, friends, colleague expect them to watch everything you do in the bathroom and you will see everything they do. 2) A further problem is that if someone uses the bathroom during the night, turning on the bathroom light is the same as turning on the light in the entire bedroom. Evidently, I was the first guest (according to the manager) who didn't like this open bathroom. Close

Stayed here in mid-July. Size of room was smaller than the Landmark Hotel which we had justed moved from. The extra bed was a roller away which made the normal double bed room smaller. We stayed here for 3 nights but the bottled water was missed being replaced on the second day. Our room was on the 7th floor, out of 22nd so the view was great but surprisingly there was no road noise. Entrance to hotel is at the back in a side street. Walking to the main Chinatown was easy as there is a connecting overpass from the hotel to next shopping centre. Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy. Friendly staff, especially the cleaning staff. Reasonable size pool but in a strange location as you get off on the 6th floor then walk down the fire stairs to the pool on the 5th floor. The gym is also located on this floor. There is no direct access from the 5th floor. Didn’t eat in the hotel as we ate in the many food stalls within Chinatown. There is a Macdonalds and Subway in Chinatown Point across the road if you need it. Location was good for walking and exploring Chinatown, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. The Chinatown MRT station is close by. Marble bathroom was mostly clean except for mould in the grout which we found in all hotels in Singapore. Air conditioner in room was noisy. Carpet needed a good clean and the selection of TV channels was poor. Overall I would recommend this hotel to explore the Chinatown area. Close
