London Bridge is falling down, bring your kids to let them see it for themselves

Hong Kong – July 11, 2014 – Summer is just around the corner, and what does that mean? It’s time to take your kids on a trip! Too busy at work recently and haven’t figured out your family’s summer getaway plan? Why not rely on ZUJI? Our CEO Charlie Wong took his family on a trip to London during Easter, and has brought home four fantastic travel tips that may help you and your little globetrotter(s)-to-be to embark on a wondrous trip to UK’s capital!

1. The best way to overcome jetlag
Jetlag is one of the biggest concerns every parent has during a family trip. Everyone deserves to have a good trip, so how would Charlie tackle this jetlag issue for his kids?
Charlie’s tips: Parents should plan the itinerary so that the family arrives at the destination in the afternoon. By doing so, even if your family arrives at the destination at a time that is past your children’s bed time, the kids would only have to hang on for a couple more hours before they go to sleep and adjust their biological clock. Although the kids might still wake up way before sunrise, they wouldn’t ruin your good night’s sleep.

2. Fascinating educational tours
Sending your children off to a study trip is cool. But what’s cooler is to take them to one yourself! Besides, you also get to save on the extra mark-up, spend time with your kids, and experience the trip yourself!
Charlie’s tips: London is renowned for its museums, and most of them are free, too! Spend time with your family to discuss about which museum they are most interested in visiting. During my Easter trip, I discovered a kid-friendly pub right in front of the British Museum that serves amazing fish and chips, and of course you can order a pint of beer to quench your summer thirst and cool yourself off! The town of Windsor is also very worthwhile with its spectacular castle and the beautiful riverside. You may let your kids can play next to the river bank with the swans, just prepare to answer them if they ask you how do the swans stay white and clean without showers!

3. Best places for getting around with kids
London isn’t the biggest city and it’s very well-connected. You can easily get around on foot and visit a handful of tourist attractions if you plan your trip right.
Charlie’s tips: Mayfair is a great location to serve as your hub as it’s very close to a number of tourist spots, such as: Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye, etc. If you stay in Mayfair, you get to get around to all these places on foot in one day and still have time to sip on some black tea like a Sir or Madam!

4. Kids travel free on London transport
Transportation can be a huge expense for family travellers in London. However, there are some smart ways for you to save on it to do more shopping for the kids!
Charlie’s tips: The Oyster card and Zip card are similar to our Octopus card in Hong Kong, they allow kids to travel for free or at a discounted fare. Children aged 5 or below can travel free at any time of the day on the Tube, Docklands Light Railway, buses, trams and London Underground as long as they are with an adult with valid ticket!
